Though not a part of the Handernesse ruling bloodline, Lady Verra na'Maris Handernesse is considered to be the oldest member of its core family. Despite this, she does not rule the House; for all her experience, she is content to advise her son in its affairs.

History:

Mother of Phaedra, Rymark, and Russo, Verra is not of Handernesse by blood, but married into the House. Though she could lead the House if she so desired, she stepped down four years ago, claiming age and the need for a fresh pair of hands at Handernesse's reins. She still attends many social functions and serves as advisor to Rymark, on the few occasions where he needs one.
